Description
This is one of the most elegant flowers on earth...soft, breath taking, and symbol of peace, contentment, and a spiritual awareness. The white lily is linked to Juno, the queen of the gods in Roman mythology, by the story that while nursing her son Hercules, some excess milk fell from the sky creating the group of stars we call the Milky Way, and lilies were created from what milk fell to the earth.
I painted this on 30 x 22, 300 lb Arches Watercolor paper.

I do so appreciate your comment David...we don't live that far away from each other! I'm just out of Spokane. Love your photography...I once lived in Tacoma and visited many of the areas you have photographed. Warms my heart....thank you for your comment on my lily :)

Lovely painting, Alethea, and I'm glad I saw it today. Today, the Ides of March, is the 5th anniversary of when my brother, Dean, was killed by a reckless driver. I was given a peace lily as a condolence at that time, and am now reminded of Dean whenever I see one. You've done justice to this beautiful flower. Thank you. :)
Alethea M replied:
Oh my goodness Kristin - I pray for your pain of missing your brother...I cannot imagine loosing one of mine. Thank you for commenting on my peace lily...I'm so glad you fine comfort in it. All my best, Alethea

Thank you so much Odd...all my years I've wanted to paint this lily...but felt I couldn't portray it like I wanted. Suddenly...I just through caution to the wind and did it.
