Description
A wonderful challenge commissioned on a collectors wall which is a 4 foot x 9 foot panel. The owner wanted a background for his train collection which he hand-built the train tracts out of wood.
....................
Perspective was the challenge here so that the train would be entering a tunnel. This mountain scene depicts his vision of personal memories associated with his life's labor in construction and as a avid nature loving mountain man, working in the lush, remote areas of Montana's awesome beauty.
....................
His desire was to capture his vision and memories of God's Green Earth and the work involved in the "Go West Young Man" theory.
....................
History is an important journey as we look back into our roots and the the exploration of new territory and the process involved. As with all historical art, this mural was important for him to share this his vision for his family, mostly his children and grandchildren in the years to come.
....................
This mural was a massive undertaking as he constantly made changes needed to depict the "actual landscape" where he worked and lived. The emotional response of his grandchildren was pretty simplistic in nature, ranging from "Wow", to "You were part of history Grandpa"!
....................
I had never before painted a piece of Western art that caused such a personal joy.

This was so much fun to paint...and the client has wanted me to extend the mural to the next 5' x 9' panel...stay tuned to how it transitions into farm land with a homestead! Thank you for your comment...I feel honored!
